How to Show Rooms and Areas in a 3D View in Revit

This is gonna be a short but mighty one:

The Problem

Every architect I know who's working in Revit has at some point come across the limitation that Revit does not allow you to show rooms or areas in a 3D view. For areas I kind of get it - they are intended to be a 2D object, but most of us think of them as a 3D space. But why are rooms also cursed with this limitation. I just don't see the point. They even have 3D geometry in the API so why doesn't want Autodesk to show them to use?

The Solution

A complete data visualisation engine for architect must of course include rooms and areas! They are a critical part of any building design and therefore we absolutely need to be able to visualise their properties as well as spacial extend.

That's why in the latest update to the Vyssuals Revit Connector I've included a mechanism that lets you show rooms and areas in 3D in Revit.

How does Vyssuals do that?

It creates 'proxy' objects (in the mass category, as a direct shapes for those of geeks among you) that are synchronised with the actual room or area they represent. Furthermore I've added some handy selection features that allow you to select the underlying rooms / areas when you click on a proxy. I know from first hand experience how important this kind of behaviour is!
